first_imgGolf BY KILA NAO A total of K120,000 was raised during the Prime Minister’s Corporate Golf challenge held at the Royal Port Moresby Golf Club last Friday. It was tough for the Bank of PNG men who had to brave the humid conditions but it paid off handsomely at the end after winning the PM’s Cup and, also pocketing return airline tickets to Sydney courtesy of Air Niugini. The bankers came out on top from a field of 27 teams, including three complimentary teams was a real feat for the team. They (BPNG) finished with a top 56.38 through the collective efforts of Samuel Uge, Moses Temai, Cassie Koma and Joshua Mirupasi. The PNGDF team one also had fine day finishing in second placing with 58.00 while Posco International took the third placing with 58.50 while Kumul Petroleum Holdings was on fourth placing on 60.63 while making up the top five was L & A Constructions on fourth placing on 60.75. The PM’s Golf challenge fundraiser is to help the Team PNG to attend the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa. Team PNG Chef De Mission Emma Waiwai expressed gratitude to all the corporate and business that participated in the even “It is one of our major fundraising events for Team PNG held every year and everyone who contributed to this event have supported Team PNG. “We take a very large team to Samoa with a total of 500 athletes and team officials participating in 26 sports out from the 28 sports and we need a big budget,” Waiwai said. “We topped the medal tally in 2015 and this year is a big challenge for us. We are going to there to win medals and we must ensure that maintain the record we did back in 2015. It is a big challenge and we must make it’s happen and we have 49 days before the games.”last_img
